Easy Rainbow Macrame

I have been seeing these rainbow macrame everywhere, so I thought I would make one for Evie’s room remodel too! This was so easy to do. It can be a little time consuming (you literally wrap the yarn around the rope over and over and over…), but it is so worth it in the end!

Supplies

-Yarn (in whatever colors you want)
-Cord rope (I used a 12mm thick rope from Hobby Lobby)
-Felt (I used this to hold the rainbow colors together so I wouldn’t have to stitch it)
-Hot glue gun and sticks
-Scissors

I used 5 different colors so I could have a bigger rainbow. I also just really liked these colors. Thicker yarn would be easier to wrap because you don’t have to wrap it around as much, but I think the color matters more than the width since you can always keep overlapping the yarn.

Cut the rope into your rainbow arches. Make sure to leave the outer arches bigger.

Tie a knot at the bottom of one arch about a 1/2-1 inch up, and begin wrapping.

Repeat the previous step and continue wrapping for each arch.

After you have all your arches, start glueing them onto a felt piece with hot glue. Don’t forget to tie a strip of yarn to use to hang the rainbow at the middle of the top arch.

Once you have all the arches glued onto your felt piece, cut off the excess so that it doesn’t show.

And there you have it! Super easy to do!

I’ve seen where other people add things to theirs like pom poms or streamers, which would be really fun, but I just wanted something really simple for Evie’s room.

I would love to see what you come up with!

Creatively,
Alice

  1. This is so cute. I’m sure Evie loves it. You need to do a grand reveal once her room is complete
